Your First Chiropractic Visit
Too often we hear that when patients go to doctors they feel like they are rushed through the visit and their concerns and questions aren’t satisfactorily addressed.
Dr. Fawn allows enough time on your first visit to ensure that she is able to thoroughly listen to her patients. On average, your first appointment will last 45-60 minutes. When you come to the office for your first time, this is what you can expect.
You will be asked to fill out paperwork that provides us general information about yourself, your reasons for visiting our office, and your health history.
You will then have a private consultation with Dr. Fawn where she will talk to you about your health-related problems and concerns to determine if chiropractic care is a good fit for you.
History and Examination
Dr. Fawn will then ask you various questions to get more information on your conditions and then will perform a thorough exam in order to determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition.
Dr. Fawn is always sure to explain exactly what chiropractic care is and if and how it can help your specific condition before any treatment is given. All of your questions about chiropractic will be answered during your initial visit.
Same Day Treatment
Once the history and exam are completed, patients are usually given their first chiropractic adjustment during the same day.
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your first follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen again within 2-3 days.
A TYPICAL CHIROPRACTIC VISIT
Dr. Fawn recognizes that people have busy lives and she strives to ensure that follow-up visits do not take as long in order to accommodate hectic schedules. Routine visits are usually 10-20 minutes long. However, if a patient ever needs to have more time to discuss concerns with the doctor a longer appointment can be scheduled.
TYPES OF ADJUSTMENTS
Many people who are new to chiropractic are often nervous about their first adjustments, but Dr. Fawn is sure to ease their fears and figure out what method of adjusting will work best for each patient.
Dr. Fawn is trained in many different chiropractic techniques and she caters her adjusting method to each patient’s needs and comfort level. She uses a variety of manual “hands on” techniques, including Diversified and Thompson, but she also uses an instrument to provide gentle adjustments that don’t create the ‘popping’ noise that manual methods produce.
No matter what technique she uses, Dr. Fawn promises a gentle touch with dramatic results.
